Why I built this

I kept finding out about the best open-source tools weeks too late. I’d scour Twitter, Hacker News and Reddit, and still feel behind on where to even look.

So I built this to keep myself current. Then I opened it up, because the people I work with (and now you) shouldn’t have to feel late either.

Keeping it fast and free for everyone costs real money. If it saves you an afternoon, you can chip in.

Entirely optional, and it unlocks nothing. Search and the MCP server stay free for everyone, forever.

Questions, answered plainly.

Is it really free?
Yes, both the search and the MCP server. Donations just keep it online.
Do you use an LLM to rank?
No, deliberately. Ranking is deterministic and explainable — the order never depends on an LLM’s opinion, so results are consistent and reproducible.
Where do results come from?
Live GitHub data. Stars, languages and recency are read by the search API in real time.

Stop rebuilding what already exists.
